Offstage

Texas Musical Theatre Workshop is not about all work and no play: Saturdays and Sundays are filled with a variety of optional recreational activities, like swimming at Gregory Gym Pool, bowling at the Texas Union, touring the Blanton Museum of Art, and lots more. Of course, we’ll include some much-needed time to relax or rehearse.

Here are some of the activities you’ll enjoy at TXMTW – all are included in your tuition:

See Local Austin Musical!

Every year TXMTW takes its students to see a local musical for an evening activity.

Sunday Night Cabaret

2012 TXMTW Talent Takes The Stage!

With so many talented performers in one place, it just makes sense to offer an extra opportunity for you to shine at what you do best – sing, dance and act! You’ll have plenty of time before the end of the second week to get together and work on a group number or rehearse a solo that will bring down the house. You can bring sheet music for our accompanist, sign up for the Cabaret on Sunday, and get ready to show us what TXMTW talent looks and sounds like!

Dance Party

So You Think You Can Dance?

We’ll put away the tap and jazz shoes for a night and replace them with soles that’ll help you get your groove on to more than just musical theatre songs. And even if you don’t want to dance, it’s a great chance to chill out at the end of an intense week of classes and rehearsals.

Screenings of Movie Musicals

Some of the best musicals have been filmed or made into movies. We’ll give you the opportunity to watch some of your favorites with a theatre full of other students who share your passion for this art form. Oh, and the popcorn’s included!
